Metadata & Ecosystem

Research Object Crate (RO-Crate) is a community effort to establish a lightweight approach to packaging research data with their metadata. 

Bioschemas is an open community supported by ELIXIR to improve the discoverability of biological information and is led by Carole Goble and Alastair Gray from ELIXIR-UK

EDAM is a comprehensive ontology of well-established, familiar concepts that are prevalent within bioinformatics and computational biology, including types of data and data identifiers, data formats, operations and topics.

Registeries

WorkflowHub is a registry of Scientific Workflows, and is part of EOSC Life

Standards

The Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) is a policy-framing and technical standards-setting organization, seeking to enable responsible genomic data sharing within a human rights framework.

The Common Workflow Language (CWL) is an open standard for describing analysis workflows and tools in a way that makes them portable and scalable across a variety of software and hardware environments.

WfMS Platforms

ELIXIR-UK is involved in Galaxy Europe, which provides and supports the biggest Galaxy instance in Europe.
