A look at the progress, how the UK Node fits in the 2024-28 Programme and a first glimpse into BioFAIR – with Carole Goble and Neil Hall (Joint Heads of Node)

Experience a World Cafe session at our scientific conference, featuring small-group discussions at themed tables, with the option of rotating every 20 minutes, encouraging diverse perspectives and knowledge exchange. 

  • ELIXIR 101 – get the grips of ELIXIR and leverage its network’s potential. How to get involved or become an ELIXIR-UK institute with Catherine Knox (Node Coordinator)
  • Data Management Club – get involved and shape the newly revamped RDMClub, a vibrant network of people managing data in the UK with monthly meet-ups showcasing, exchanging and signposting stories from the UK and beyond – with Robert Andrews (Data Management Lead) and Munazah Andrabi (Deputy Data Management Lead)
  • Health Data UK Community – how does your organisation fit into this emerging ELIXIR Community? – with Tim Beck (Health Data Community co-lead)  
  • Training in the UK – dive into the numerous training activities and resources brewed and steered by UK members as part of an engaged group that meets monthly with presenters from across the ELIXIR Europe community – with Krzysztof Poterlowicz (Training Coordinator) and Alexia Cardona (Deputy Training Coordinator and Training Platform co-lead)
  • Node Communications & Impact – discover the new ELIXIR Impact toolkit resource and discuss Node’s offer to help you with your impact stories and communication/outreach needs – with Xenia Perez Sitja (Community Manager) and Nichola Wong (Business Development and Impact Officer).
  • Introduction to BioFAIR – uncover the potential of the new national BioCommons. This digital research infrastructure enables ELIXIR and other partners’ data and processing resources to be delivered to researchers across the UK – with Gerry Reilly (BioFAIR Interim Director) and Nicola Soranzo (Technical Coordinator)

ELIXIR-UK Fellowship – a case of building data management communities of practice

Discover the grassroots impact stories of the ELIXIR-UK Fellowship with a session featuring the stories of 4 Fellows. They have been instrumental in strengthening data management capacity within their organisations across the UK. Join us for their insightful lightning talks, where they’ll share their unanticipated benefits of joining us and valuable experiences. Gain practical insights on the ELIXIR-UK Fellowship model to build capacity building in data management – with Korneel Hens (Oxford Brooks University), Saskia Lawson-Tovey (University of Manchester), Manuel Lera-Ramírez (University College London) and Sandra Ng (Queen Mary University of London)

New Members Showcase – what do they bring to ELIXIR

Hear from some of our newest members who will let us know how joining ELIXIR has impacted them and the work they do and what they can bring to our Node – with Yo Yehudi (Open Life Science) and Tim Beck  (HDR UK)

Join us for an engaging evening of poster presentations, networking, and snacks. This session provides an excellent opportunity to explore the progress of diverse ELIXIR-UK services, projects and other relevant initiatives beyond the Node.

We’re not just talking; we’re taking action. This session aims to produce concrete steps and actionable items that will help shape the future of ELIXIR-UK, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of our members.

This meeting will introduce the BioFAIR programme’s scope and facilitate various breakout rooms dedicated to critical topics, such as determining the best strategies for delivering BioFAIR to foster community collaboration and identifying priority areas for providing valuable services and capabilities to support UK researchers. Join us to contribute your insights and ideas to shape the future of BioFAIR.
