Interoperability and Standards
ELIXIR-UK co-leads the ELIXIR-EXCELERATE platform for integration and interoperability of data and services. ELIXIR-UK contributes the following components to ELIXIR’s interoperability platform:
FAIRsharing is a curated, informative and educational resource on inter-related data standards, databases, and policies. As one of the groups facilitating the implementation of the FAIR principles, FAIRsharing ensures these resources are registered, informative and discoverable, maximizing their adoption and use to assist the virtuous data cycle, from generation to standardization, through publication to subsequent sharing and reuse. FAIRsharing also operates as a working group under the Research Data Alliance and Force11.
- ISA framework
The FAIR-supporting open source ISA metadata tracking framework facilitates standards-compliant collection, curation, management, publication and reuse of datasets. Behind this framework there is the ISA Commons, an increasingly diverse and growing community, running public and internal resources, using ISA formats (tabular, RDF, JSON) and/or powered by one or more component of the ISA software suite.
InterMine is an open source data warehouse built specifically for the integration and analysis of complex biological data. Developed by the Micklem lab at the University of Cambridge, InterMine enables the creation of biological databases accessed by sophisticated web query tools.
The BioCatalogue is a Catalogue of Web Services relevant for the life sciences. Its prime audience is the developers of bioinformatics infrastructures, tools and applications, and technically proficient bioinformaticians.
