Comparison of the engagement and completion of synchronous and asynchronous online courses for adult learners

Join us for an insightful presentation by Matthew Gemmell from the University of Liverpool as he shares the findings of his Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice (PGCAP) research project.

This session is part of the UK Training Club’s recurrent community call series, where educators and professionals come together to share knowledge, discuss best practices, and explore new developments in training and education.

Matthew conducted a comprehensive literature review and questionnaire to explore the advantages and disadvantages of synchronous and asynchronous online courses. The study specifically focused on working adult academics and bioinformatics online courses, uncovering valuable insights into engagement and completion rates in these two learning modes. This event will provide an in-depth look at the study’s findings and their implications for designing effective online training.
