Training

ELIXIR-UK plays a significant role in the training landscape – not just at home in the UK, but across the whole of the European ELIXIR project. We co-lead on the ELIXIR training platform and support the development of training to address key skills gaps amongst UK scientists.

Services

We lead ELIXIR’s training materials and events infrastructure project, TeSS, which collects information about a diverse range of training and makes it accessible to the community.

We are also working with others to provide key digital skills training, partnering with the Software Sustainability Institute to provide Software Carpentry to the ELIXIR community, establishing the Data Carpentry initiative, and taking a lead role amongst national stakeholders to deliver the StaTS project – a coordinated effort to drive engagement with training in statistics.

Activities

ELIXIR-UK FAIR Data Stewardship Training

The ELIXIR-UK FAIR Data Stewardship Training project is funded by UKRI and led by the University of Bradford. This project will produce and deliver core training in data stewardship, as well as develop a Training Fellowship Programme with input from the Software Sustainability Institute.

ELIXIR-UK Training Working Group

The ELIXIR-UK training working group was launched in October 2020 with the aim of supporting training in ELIXIR-UK organisations.

Recording Training

If you run training associated with ELIXIR-UK it is important to record it with ELIXIR.  Collected data should be recorded into the Training Metrics Database,  your profile via the ELIXIR Intranet, and via TeSS. Find out more about how you can do this on our Recording Training page.

Training Centres

We act as a conduit for nationally-important bioinformatics training resources to promote their activities to the ELIXIR community.
