FAIR Data Accelerator Pilot: addressing social and cultural barriers to data sharing

3 December 2024
11:00 am
12:00 pm

At the December 2024 RDM Club Call, we will discuss The FAIR Data Accelerator Pilot Project.

The challenges of implementing FAIR principles extend beyond technical and metadata issues. They include social and cultural aspects of professional practice, identity and agency, or the actions humans take in response to changes in their situation and context. The FAIR Data Accelerator Pilot Project uses social science approaches to identify and address the social and cultural barriers to data sharing.

This project is funded by the DSIT/UKRI Research Data Cloud Pilot Commission to Digital Research Investment Committee (DRIC). In this talk, we will discuss our progress to date and outline our plans for scaling up the project. One key aspect of this plan is developing a framework that incorporates insights from social science and helps Digital Research Infrastructure (DRI) professionals understand and address the social and cultural barriers to data sharing.
