FAIR-in-action Bridge: How to communicate and advocate FAIR (Contentathon #3)

The cultural barriers to FAIR are just as real as the practical ones. RDM is too often treated as administrative box-ticking rather than as a core part of research excellence.

This is the practical core of the RDM Club’s BioFAIR pathfinder project, turning guidance into ready-to-deliver workshop activities, templates, slide decks and facilitator scripts that RDM professionals can take to their own institutions. This contentathon tackles the challenge head-on by co-creating Playbook 2: How to communicate and advocate FAIR.

Find out more about the project.

We’ll be drafting the materials RDM professionals need to start the right conversations: FAIR games for engaging undergraduates, master’s and PhD students; scripted talking points for researchers, PIs and decision-makers; and advocacy frameworks that work in real institutional settings.

The day will combine hands-on creation with short interviews capturing real-world experience of FAIR advocacy. As with our 28 May session, the day is structured in sections – join the parts most relevant to you (agenda to be shared very soon)

What you’ll do

  • Co-design FAIR games and engagement activities with acknowledgement of contributions in an open repository
  • Draft talking points and advocacy scripts for different audiences
  • Share what’s worked (and hasn’t) in your own context
  • Help shape Playbook v1 of How to communicate and advocate FAIR
