Platforms for genetic scores: PGS Catalog and OmicsPred
This UK Human Data & Tech Club community call will introduce two platforms for genetic scores – PGS Catalog and OmicsPred – and the standards and infrastructure that keep them useful across research and clinical settings.
Speaker
Laurent Gil
Principal Software Developer, Wellcome Sanger Institute
What to expect
Genetic scores summarise an individual’s genetic predisposition to a trait or disease, and their value depends on being findable, comparable and reproducible across studies.
- What genetic scores are and how they’re used in research
- The standardised metadata and file format that keep scores comparable across studies and platforms
- The infrastructure and user interfaces behind PGS Catalog and OmicsPred
- A software developer’s role in building and maintaining both projects
Who is this for
This session is particularly relevant if you:
- Work with genetic or polygenic scores in your research
- Build or maintain research data platforms
- Are interested in metadata and file format standardisation
- Develop cloud infrastructure – websites, REST APIs – for research tools
