ELIXIR: Open collaborative infrastructure to tackle public health emergencies

The rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus highlights the need for an open analytics environment so that the global research community can collaborate on developing effective countermeasures.

Open-access data and open, reproducible analytics are crucial for a fast and efficient response to global health crises and can significantly contribute to our understanding of novel viruses. This is the main point of a joint paper by Galaxy teams from the United States, Australia and ELIXIR, who re-analysed available COVID-19 data and assessed the reproducibility of initial papers on the COVID-19 genome.
