Elevenses and data horror stories
In keeping with the season, our October 2025 RDM Club call will be our Halloween special: the horrors of data stewardship – or perhaps more accurately, the horrors of not doing data stewardship.
We’ve invited a panel of professionals working on data stewardship or related roles to share the darker, more difficult aspects of their work. Expect stories about chaotic datasets, uncooperative collaborators, unclear policies or simply the overwhelming volume and diversity of responsibilities.
The session will feature:
- Short introductions from each panellist
- A game of two lies and one truth based on their data stewardship experiences
- Reflections and discussion around the real stories, lessons learned, and resources to help deal with these “horrors”.
- Open Q&A with the audience
Speakers
- Shona Ferguson, UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology
- Stefan Kirsh & Tycho Hofstra – Ghost Collective
- Emily Johnson – University of Liverpool
