ELIXIR-UK launches new FAIR Data Stewardship Training Fellowship – apply now

As part of our new UKRI-funded project in FAIR Data Stewardship Training, ELIXIR-UK has launched a new Fellowship programme which aims to improve FAIR data management in the Life Sciences practiced by UK researchers and their research support staff.

The deadline to apply for the Fellowship is Friday 30 July.

This project is led by Krzysztof Poterlowicz from the University of Bradford and Robert Andrews from Cardiff University, who are both members of the ELIXIR-UK Management Committee and run our working groups in Training and Data Management respectively.

The Fellowship was developed in collaboration with the Software Sustainability Institute inspired by their successful Fellowship programme. Fellows will be given training, develop teaching material in their area of specialism and take our data steward training into their own institutions. We hope that this will expand the reach of data steward training across the UK and provide a network for people working in this area.

By offering a £3000 honorarium, this new programme also aims to contribute to the professionalisation of data stewardship, which has often been undervalued in the life science community. This will empower our Fellows to develop communities around the skills they learn, network with others who share their interests, and learn new skills that benefit both themselves and their collaborators.

We will be selecting a shortlist of applicants and then holding an online selection day on Thursday 2 September where applicants will be able to network and take part in assessment exercises.
