From data silos to a federated cancer data network
Cancer research depends on access to high-quality data, yet much of this data remains fragmented across institutions and systems.
In this UK Human Data and Tech Club call, colleagues from ELIXIR Ireland at the University of Limerick will share their work to connect and harmonise clinical and ‘omics cancer data for research across the island of Ireland.
The talk will provide an overview of Ireland’s federated cancer data programme, including:
- The development of national cancer data nodes
- Alignment with the European Health Data Space (EHDS)
- Participation in international standards initiatives such as OHDSI OMOP, HL7’s European common cancer model ontology, Digione MEDOC and the GDI minimal data model
